Fairytale Farmette Victory Garden

Hi folks, welcome to the Farmette Victory Garden tutorial series. In the coming months, I will be sharing ideas about how to grow your own food that anyone can do, even if you live in an apartment!

From the first time I planted a lettuce seed in my tiny patio in Washington, DC I felt the magic of being able to grow my own food. Even if you just want to try a fresh herb pot in a sunny windowsill, understanding the value of raising your food is a form of food security.

I'm hoping these tutorials can be a free exchange of information. I am by no means an expert in all areas, but I can share with you the way I grow food for the Farmette and for our little homestead. I will do my best to point out low cost and no cost ways to grow and all the little tricks along the way. Part of learning to grow is knowing how to find the best information. I will also be sharing with you my favorite blogs, resources, videos, and books to help you in your journey.

Here are a few of my favorites to start with:

Justin Rhodes vlog and downloadable guides

Eliot Coleman books on organic growing and winter harvest

A great all around resource for homesteaders (that's you!)

Great group of gardening experts, books and blogs

Please feel free to reach out with suggestions for what you would like to see in the Farmette victory garden tutorials. Please share your successes too! I can be reached by email at kelly@fairytalefarmette.com or on Instagram @fairytalefarmette.

Let's get growing!
